I love to make things. One thing leads to another and that inspires another and that is my life. There is never enough time in a day to do all the things I would like to do and my entire days are usually centered around my work. Work to me is not work, it’s my enjoyment and accomplishments and my achievements. I love to challenge myself and be challenged to create an even more complex or sophisticated design, I strive to grow and perfect all the things I do and truly love it.

I can’t remember a time in my life when I was not creating something or other but 1975 became a very significant year.

I always loved stained glass and always wished I had really cool gifts for my loved one’s birthdays and Christmas. Even though I love to shop, I didn’t always find ’just the right thing’ for their gift so I made the choice to learn stained glass. At that time there were hardly any tools or pattern books but I’ve always been an independent sort and was happy to come up with my own designs and patterns. I got the tools I needed and found a place to take six classes and off I went, doing my own thing. I developed my own techniques as well as designs and have found the very best tools anyone could ever have, everyone has, it’s your hands. I never went for the gadgets or pricey tools. I use good quality but basic tools: a comfortable cutter, two different types of pliers, a straight edge/rule, an Exacto© knife and a glass grinder, of course a soldering iron is needed to put it all together, just the basics. I have found lots of people expect that expensive tools are responsible for producing a wonderful product, that is not the case here, talent and abilities do that job.

About the Artist

I always taught my students to value their hands and get the feel of their tools and designs, I was not interested in selling them ‘systems’ or ‘gadgets‘, I encouraged them to invest their money in pattern books and glass and let their hands do the work.

As a result of my love of glass, I accomplished my goal, mastered the craft and was able to give the wonderful gifts I had envisioned. People started asking me to make things for them and without even trying, it turned into a business on it’s own. I still make all the things I like to make as you can see here but locally I do custom work and love the challenge of it, love the interaction between the client and myself, working out a design and choosing the glass. Mostly I love the response I get when the client sees their completed piece, that is just the most rewarding thing ever, along with teaching. That’s where I get my rewards in life, it’s called self satisfaction.

Thank you for visiting, hope you find something to brighten up your life.
